Regarding remaining an "active" member, I asked Starwood this very question last week. And their response was activity via the Starpoints card is *not* sufficient. One must spend $10 or more every year at a Starwood property - hotel stay, dinner at a restaurant, drinks at a hotel bar - to remain active.
