We are leaving in the morning for a week at the Aruba Stellaris and have heard good and bad things about the tradewinds floor upgrade. We are gold so do you think there is any chance they will upgrade us to the tradewinds floor if something is available? If not, is it worth the money to upgrade?

1. No, there is no chance that you will get upgraded to Tradewinds without paying for it. Doesn't matter if you are a base member or Plat Premier. And Silver/Gold are very easy to get with Marriott. Platinum is easy to get these days too.
I heard a few people throwing around the "I am a Gold member" at check in during my recent stay. I wanted to turn to them and say, "I'm Platinum Premier and I'll be joining you on the second floor, so get over yourself.
