Need some reassurance but the way I see it is I check in at IAD for LHR-BHD and if I have to collect my luggage I still should have enough time. If they check me through (which they have done in similar situation on PHI-LHR and then LHR-BRU), then should be no problem. Thoughts?

The alternate is EI but it only goes at 15.40 so may as well go BA at 16 if i don't go for earlier one
You should be fine on that connection but I have to say T5-T1 is a bit of a PITA. I was travelling on a Reward Flight Saver from Glasgow to Belfast in January baggage was through checked so I went through to flight connections. The bus journey takes 10-15 mins with departures every few minutes.

On arrival at T1 I went through the Flight Connections Rigmarole following the signs for UK departures and I came to a UK Border Control. Now as I had come from Glasgow I didnt have my passport so it was a faf to prove my journey to be asked why fly via London ... etc before the guy shrugged his shoulders and let me through.

I had 2 hours between my flights and it took me approximately 1 hr to get to the BA Domestic lounge. Though retrospectively, if doing the same connection again, I would come out through arrivals, jump on the HEX to T1 and go through security again, if only for the reason that flight connections comes in T1 comes out the other side of the terminal and you have to go through all the shops.
