I haven't flown UA in ages and have some biz travel this year that will use UA as the carrier, so I'm heading to LAS for a few days and going to take the trip on UA. I plan to purchase a United Club pass for HNL. Any word on the shape of the club? Has it been refreshed lately? The HNL Club has had no appreciable updates in the past years. It's still a nice oasis from the crowded gate area and one of the better domestic clubs, IMO.
Given the number of places to eat in the SFO Terminal (although I do not know how many are open at that unholy hour), I would probably not bother getting a day pass for your layover. It should be easy enough to find an empty gate to sit for a while before your flight. Of course, you could always see if another FTer could guest you into one of the clubs.
