I would recommend taking this tour, especially if you are the only one on the tour. The tour guide will give you some very interesting information if you are into finding out more about Uluru.
Although I usually do not like going on guided tours, I would recommend booking a tour in this case.
In fact, I would go on the sunrise tour around Uluru, and then visit Uluru on my own afterwords.
