BA oneworld emerald status not recognised by LAN, for months now
I am a BA Gold / oneworld Emerald member (have been for ever). Generally without failure the status is recognised by all oneworld airlines, with whom I fly a lot in all continents. And the status used to be recognised, including until middle of last year, by LAN in South America. Then (and I think it was when LAN did a major overhaul of their res system) for the past six months or so my status with LAN shows as Ruby. This means I cannot get preallocated best seats during online check-in, have to manually/personally request priority boarding, have to go through the whole story each time with LAN desk check-in personnel who look at me as if I am stupid ("are you sure your status has not expired?", "no, here is my card" - all that's missing is a paper ticket and we would back to 90's travelling experience haha).
Anyway before posting here I of course did the right thing and wrote to both BA Exec Club and LAN about this. Guess what: oneworld my a**e! BA Exec Club response: not our problem, check with LAN. LAN response: nothing. Yes that's right, I am caught in the twilight zone between BA and LAN (both of whom seem to have forgotten the oneworld oath...).
If anyone has had this experience and knows how to fix it, please help!
If the BA Moderator thinks this post is best suited for the oneworld forum, please move it there. I put it here because I think that at the end of the day I am a BA customer, Exec Club Gold (and have been uninterruptedly since the programme started), so I feel it should be BA that needs to fix it.
All help and advice welcome. Gracias!
