This exact argument resonates with me as a very frequent flier...many folks have status on airlines and millions of miles to redeem without ever setting foot on an airplane. And then fliers can't get award availability.
Hotels and airlines have all forgotten the core business they are in. No folks paying for rooms, no credit card signups a some point. It is that simple.
Spoken by someone who get reimbursed for his flights and rooms by his business.
Not eveyone is a business traveler all of the time, or ever, and those people have been discovered by the credit card companies and the lodging chains.
IF you don't like the situation then leave, but I expect old Connie would not be spinning in his grave once he found a new revenue source.
