There is a handle at the top when the pulling handle is extended to pull the bag up. Ebags handle is reinforced through the bag/frame.

This is the handle that was the point of failure on my family's travel duffle until my Ebags and B&R.

I agree that 25-26" is the sweet spot for 23kg/50lb weight limits. Unless one has 32kg/70lb weight limit there is no point in using anything larger.

Wheeled hockey equipment bag is over the 62" limit not to mention the weight limit when packed. Most of them are not designed for airline luggage handlers.
