Seems that it doesn't work for OP, but for others that are reading I'll add to the chorus for Post Ranch. I don't think there is a bad room on the property, but coast house and above are particularly nice. We actually prefer the layout of coast to ocean houses, but I can understand an aversion to duplexes. The service is generally mixed but mostly friendly and helpful. Enjoy the house cars on the highway! Also, Glen Oaks is a nice choice nearby (zero service, just a motel) at a much more modest room rate.

For the OP, perhaps make a stop for lunch at Post Ranch/Sierra Mar, the view is fabulous and the new chef is doing pretty well IMO.
