You might consider calling Marriott Plat rez and asking for their help with your points stay for the AMS Marriott. In the past, I have wanted to use my points for a couple of hotels which did not show awards availability on the website, and I explained the situation to the rez agent, who transferred me to a supervisor who could help to make the reservation. One of the hotels was easily done while I was on the phone after the supervisor called the hotel to arrange it. For the second hotel the supervisor said that she would work on it and give me a call the next day. She did that, and also got that hotel for me on points. So, the moral of the story is that sometimes, as a Plat member, it is possible to get points rez's for hotels which are not showing availability, if you ask nicely and are patient. Of course, this was more than one year ago, and I can't promise that this sort of situation could be repeated in your case, but nothing ventured, nothing gained, right? Give it a try, and maybe you will have a nice surprise. As always, YMMV.
