Welcome GLA0523
Welcome GLA0523 to the BA Forum, it's good to see you here, and I hope you will stick around and become a regular poster. Thank you also for your question.
My answer would be travelling alone as an 11 year old boy from my home in Northumberland, UK to my other home near Greymouth, New Zealand. I had done the trip a few times with my parents, but at short notice I had to go from Newcastle to Christchurch on my own because a relative had died unexpectedly. My father deliberately chose not to use the UM service ("he'll be fine on this own") and didn't tell mum that such a service existed. She found out later, and regularly reminded him about the incident for the next 32 years.
When I got the Sydney the connection to Auckland had gone technical and I had an unexpected overnight service. The ground staff went bananas about the situation, especially when I told them that my parents didn't have a telephone. I vividly remember telling the ground staff "just put me in a hotel, I can fly tomorrow, I promise to write to my parents to tell them all about it". The BA station manager in SYD simply took me at face value, put me in the staff bus to their hotel. He knew the hotel manager very well, he came out and sorted my check-in and room, and all went very well indeed. So my first solo travel and first irrop! Got to Greymouth a little late but in time for the funeral.
