So many it's hard to narrow it down, but it reminds me of my grandfather who passed away in 2001. My dad is an only child so he embraced my love of aviation as it seemed to skip a generation.
He was a FE on Tristar's and was with BA for 41 years straight out of WWII when they were first BOAC. They were more lenient then with retirement age! When he finally retired from BA he worked for Cathay training pilots on FE's responsibilities as they transitioned from 747 classics to 744. He had a rather large model Tristar made for me in Hong Kong with the classic BA livery and to this day is one of my most prized possessions.
I was spoiled on many flights. We would always travel on hotline tickets and on several occasions was asked if I was related to my grandfather. When I confirmed this I was always invited into the cockpit during the flight and for landings. Never forget the 767 & 747 approaches into IAD. Convinced me I had to work in aviation, and luckily I do.
Later on I was working at LHR, albeit for AF, but I would always sneak out at 1030 am to get ready to see Concorde take off. Must have watched it nearly every day I worked there and never got tired of it.
