If you want to fly between Cleveland and Hawaii, why are you mentioning discounted awards to South America?

You don't necessarily need one-way awards to fly into one city and out of another: an open-jaw award would allow that too.

ANA's program is distance-based. ORD-CDG-ORD on UA would cost 43,000 ANA miles year round in Coach. Not sure whether ANA permits open-jaw travel on awards, but they definitely permit circle trips. There's some confusion now about whether ANA has eliminated fuel surcharges for award travel on UA. Check the FT ANA forum for more details.
