If BA owns T7, the current arrangement makes some kind of sense. The current setup, with them sharing with UA which (1) has not had any collaboration with BA in living memory (2) has already dumped all their LHR and NRT flights, and (3) is just about to cut their "Premium Service" to LAX and SFO down from 3-class 757 to 2-class A320. Whilst they haven't yet announced the closure of their F lounge, it can only be a matter of time. So T7 is getting emptier and emptier, and UA could soon make do with a corner office in any old terminal. But you're right, it would need to be pulled down or totally refurbished to be made anywhere as nice as T8. *A is currently split between four terminals, and OW between two. If they could ever be spliced into one home each I'm sure that would be an improvement to everybody in this messy airport.
