Quick update : on several very recent flights, I was able to continue to use my iPad during take-off and landings. I didn't ask specifically the crew but when making the final seat belt check, they clearly saw I was reading on my iPad and they didn't make any remark.
I'm not sure if that is anything official. Many crew members on airlines all over the world have better things to do that worry about our electronic devices. Some care, most (outside the US at least) don't IME.
