trust me, nothing luxurious in this region, nonetheless, plenty of very special places all within a short jaunt to wine (or wineries), hearst castle, beach and hiking! avila la fonda is the best in town, a place i would consider 'inn-like' with comfortable rooms and superb service, steps from the beach. my favorite although further north a bit is cass house inn which offers LOVELY renovated and modern rooms, exceptional food and uber-friendly service... the place exudes history and class!

pepe delgados - best mexican food in town. high street deli - fantastic sandwiches! ciopinot - oyster bar.
