NYC/ORD/LAX are important O/D markets in and of themselves. I'm not sure a rebalancing towards PHX/CLT/PHL would actually make that much sense.

Poking around in AA forum it has already been said that the new merger will use the AA FFP as basis for migration. So expect a huge increase in the numbers of overall AA EXP and PLA, which means, an increase in CX F and J lounge users.
US has a smaller program, and even if it merged into a program that mostly resembles US' current program, you'd see it adopt ow-style elite tiers (with the appropriate lounge access) and see AA's elites shifted over into it.
