This is silly. Obviously you can't put 40 days worth of clothes in a 20" bag. You might be able to put 7 days clothes at best (most people would do 3 to 5 days.) Anything else is discussion about doing laundry and acquiring additional clothing on the road.

Why not check a full-size suitcase for a 40 day trip?
