Question Steps to Reduce luggage theft while transiting GRU JNB NBO ex USA

Hello experts,

This fall, I am undertaking a long reward ticket that has several long transits in

Nairobi
Sao Paulo (7 hrs!)
Johannesburg

The Sao Paulo stopover is departing from the USA.

What steps can be taken to reduce luggage theft and pilferage?

Can I wrap the baggage for flights departing the USA? I have USA connections before the international flight. Will TSA cut off arbitrarily?

Should I invest in the fabric cabled suitcase covers?

Should I use zip ties for the baggage zippers?

I'm not planning on carrying anything valuable in my bags, just the usual American style clothing, which would probably be an e-bay commodity in some parts of the world.

I am already using the TSA locks.

Suggestions appreciated.
