You need to contact the system that issued the jury duty request and see what their policy is. It really doesn't matter what the policy where I live or where anybody else lives, what matters is what they do.

Here, you can be excused, but it's only a postponement, you need to schedule a time in the future that you will attend. That can be done by maie or over the phone. You don't get excused just because you don't want to go.

Contact Jury services or whoever sent the notice and ask what your options are. But don't expect them to just say no problem, you never have to come.....
