Interesting. I'd certainly realised that the multi-city tool requires a long transit time than the regular took requires (which appears to work with the published minimum connection time) - but I hadn't worked out that the multi-city tool works to a fixed minimum of 2hrs.
The multi-city tools also don't appear to give so much control over fare class selection - for example, the KLM one only offers 'cheapest available economy' and 'cheapest available business', with no option to select a more flexible fare, should you so desire...
In fairness, many other airlines have similar restrictions for multicity bookings. I believe BA is the exact same. Also multicity bookings are rarely configured to calculate cheapest fares. To be honest, expedia is much better than any of them for that sort of booking.
