If you use bubble-pack inside the Rimowa then it is close to unbreakable --- key is to fill up the interior so there isn't "sloshing". Certainly able to withstand a drop from the baggage cart; so not sure that it matters which airport you connect in. I've had good luck with BA, fwiw.
