Last year before the recent top tier changes we all agreed that one can fly on AC from YYZ/YVR to China/HK twice and qualify for the old AP*E for about $2K to $3K.

If you fly on UA to Asia/Europe it would be much cheaper than AC and the same can be said for LX etc.
