I used to be able to keep the hotel points, but they recently changed that. I'm quite angry over it, as to me, it's essentially giving me a pay cut - they get to save more money, but I of course don't see a dime. I'm usually on the road for 9 months a year, often for weeks and months on end, including weekends. I read about people getting $50 per diem and $150 for hotels, and I get jealous!
Really crappy travelling for them, as you can tell, but they just won't budge on the constant cost cutting, bottom line stuff (even if it is making me not want to work nearly as hard as I would if they would even pretend to care that my comfort mattered at all).
Business travel should never be a financial burden on an employee unless he or she goes beyond reasonable expenses and $15 a day for food, $50 for hotel, isn't reasonable to start with.
