Yes, the Hertz system is MUCH better than Avis in that it shows the actual expected cost at the reservation page.

Unfortunately not. If you want to use them together, you will need to make 2 different reservations and swap the car in the middle. I had one location (I think it was WT9, The Woodlands TX) check-in the car for me via phone and re-check it out so I could use 2 free-day coupons before. This is against Avis policy as they need to physically see the car to be sure it isn't damaged before check-out.

It's an annoying process. (In my experience with free day coupons) You will not be charged the % fees on the daily rate, but you will be hit with the per day/per rental $ fees. For SEA specifically, it looks like they will hit you with the $0.60/day ERF, $0.34/day VLF, $6/day CFC and then just tax (9.5%) on the fees.
