The only time I missed with an SWU on JFK-LAX, JFK-SFO, or any domestic flight was when I went to Los Angeles the Sunday night before Sandy hit. I was on the 9PM, which was wide open in J two days before. Three hours before the flight left, J=3. 90 Minutes before, J=1. When we got to the 40 minute mark, J went to 0. I was 1 on the wait list the entire time, and watching J dwindle was painful.

Still -- if ever there was a time to have an SWU miss, I suppose it was for the last flight out before the hurricane hit. On the whole, I was very glad to be sitting anywhere in that plane that night.
