Pain in the butt, but worth it.
I took it one step further and moved from yyz to yyj. Love the west coast lifestyle, but it does take some time to adjust to. The pace is a bit slower out here. Huge benefit is that now Hawaii is the winter vacation destination instead of Florida. And I also left all my family behind, but after they had come to visit, most followed, lol.
Yes it is a bit of a pain to travel to the NE. And no, I can't imagine going to NYC for the weekend. SFO yes, do it often. To put it in perspective, it is easier for me to go to China than it is to go to Nashville...
I don't drive to Seattle, well I guess it would be a different case from YVR. But I rarely fly through Seattle either.
No Mosquitos, no humidity, almost no snow, and if there is we just stay home until it melts. You can ski and golf on the same day. You can ride your bike to work year round. I see ocean and mountains on my drive to work.
So for me the increase in quality of living is worth the travel inconvenience. (Even though I am sitting in the yyz mll as I type this, waiting for my connecting flight home)
