We didn't miss any announcements. I approached the gate agent immediately upon arrival which was T-60 before take off, and went to the restroom immediately. We returned to the gate area by T-50 or T-45 at the very latest. No announcements were made nor missed.

I have taken advantage of the opportunity for voluntary bumps a number of times-I've always been called up if I wasn't needed, and in fact on my return flight I volunteered and I was called up, as I always have been. I own my mistakes, but quite honestly I don't believe this was my fault, I did everything I could have done, and although I was always within ear/eye shot of 'that woman' she dropped the ball. Just saying....
