As stupid it might sound, cancelling the flights is actually a way to inform travel agents about the change (it will move the reservation into special queue). Then the agency is supposed to inform you and make appropriate changes.

Indeed, if you buy a ticket on ba.com, it will be BA call centre, who will contact you.
