Presume you already had boarding pass for 9am flight that gate staff allowed you to use to board a flight you were technically no longer booked onto. They should have taken you off the later flight booking but I guess didn't so you appeared to be a no-show so remainder of booking gets cancelled.
That was my thinking, except for the cancelling of my 9am ticket. Since all it took was an ounce of effort on my part to get through immigration quickly. I made it with enough time to hit the lounge for breakfast and a leisurely coffee before boarding. If I then discovered they had chucked me off the flight I would not have been unhappy at the least.
It wouldn't have taken much for the CC to assist (they weren't interested and fobbed it off as the ground crews responsibility) or for the ground crew to assist (they weren't around at all or whatever it was that was there was too interested in nail care).
Still can't understand the pitiful and presumably made up excuse I got on the exec line though for the cancellation.
