I would never go landside for the first class luggage tags unless I am going to HKG, SIN or TYO, and even then, 95% of the time I wouldn't bother unless I am in a huge hurry at the destination because it means I have to collect the luggage in the first place to do so.
It's just not worth the hassle.
P.S. HKG, SIN and TYO are the only places that I have been to where priority tags seem to work reliably.
