Every rental company has its bad apples or overzealous claims folks. The last time I rented from Hertz, I was sent a bill for a dented fender that I knew had not happened during my watch. Their "evidence" was a digital pic that had been taken an entire week after I returned the car. I wrote back and asked them if they were kidding me, and that I looked forward to meeting them in court. A few weeks later I got a letter saying the claim had been dropped.
The point is, Hertz is just as capable as Enterprise at playing games. That was 4 years ago, and I've never rented from Hertz again. But I'm Gold at Enterprise. Guess who has my business now?
