We often travel with qantas because of loyalty to our Australian airline. Often we buy an extra bag like we do with ba, because sometimes 23kg is not enough.

Just looking at the charges for the new excess baggage. For tickets issued now already in the system we can buy our extra bags for 90 Aussie dollars per piece up to a maximum of 5 per passenger. Looking at the new charges from tickets bought after 26 feb the charge will be $210 aussiedollars per 5 kg so if you wanted to take a 23 kg bag it would cost 5 x $210. So now it's $1050 for an extra bag instead of 90 that's an increase of 1100%.

Am I right in thinking this is bloody disgusting?

It just seems unfair that they are so much more expensive

Disappointed with qantas really, Unless they are preparing themselves for emirates to take a big stake out of like etihad and virgin australia.

If you are an economy passenger like myself and are not rich but carry a lot of luggage then you may be better off going ba to Sydney so you can buy an extra bag!
