I don't have any experience in this area, but $482 seems like a lot to me. It's unreasonable to expect the car back in exactly the same condition it was rented; there should be some allowance for "wear and tear." It would also seem unreasonable to me if Enterprise were to replace the bumper for $2K when they could have repainted it for $500, or if they chose to repaint it for $500 when they could have fixed it with a $5 paint pen.
In any event, I don't place much trust in any of the car companies. I might be a bit paranoid, but I always take my P&S camera and videotape every inch of the car before driving it off. If they're going to charge $500 to fix a few scratches, I'd like to be sure that it isn't for something that happened before I picked up the car....
