Again, not sure if that's an option in Germany (and the OP already has the visa, so likely even less of an option now), but in countries where a multi-entry Chinese visa is possible, there's no downside to getting one. For a US passport, the cost is the same and the visa is good for a year.
Multiple entry tourist visas not normally available to most passport holders in the world (USA being one of the few exceptions). Multi business visas can sometimes be available with proper invitation from a clout-wielding company or Ministry invitation. Only the USA has flat-fee visas regardless of length/type. Elsewhere there is a three tier price system for single, double, multiple.
