This isn't a CS issue. The rules are the same for full fare as for the cheapest ticket on the aircraft. There are threads all over FT which start with, "I was only X minutes late and they wouldn't let me board...."

This won't change with other carriers and relying on what usually happens only means that you will usually but not always make it.
