For $29 there is dongle that adapts the USB connector to the ethernet for Macs without an ethernet port. We have it permanently in our travel bag for hotel purposes. Also have a travel router (both of which are small and light) and make the whole thing work easily.
The Edimax BR-6258n Nano Router plus a tiny Startech micro USB adapter (see link below) will do the exact same thing. Total package costs $35.98 on Amazon. Might save you a few bucks.
