Nervous? LIH is a very small airport with only a dozen gates or so. I wouldn't give it a second's thought.

That's odd that AA routed you through LIH from HNL.
Probably to help loads on the LIH flight. 35 minutes at LIH should be more than enough time especially if you're inbound on HA. You may miss preboarding though.
