Indeed... I believe they have actually had more than one severe turbulence incident in recent years... 2 on A330 aircraft nearer to home, and 1 on an A380 on way from London to Singapore.

Here is a news report from the SIN bound A380... In particular, listen to what the chap says at 00:34... Although, I believe subsequently it transpired to be a ceiling panel...
