A year or two ago I noticed that an M fare had decreased by about a thousand dollars. I called and paid the change fee to have the ticket reissued at the lower fare. I was able to keep my SWU upgrades on all segments, but I know the DM agent consulted a supervisor. So it can be worthwhile to double check prices if you're ticketing an expensive fare far in advance.
