Just wanted to give an update about my experience yesterday using my Skymiles. After 5 phone calls and ~5 hours of total time on the phone w/ different Delta agents, getting the leg from TPE to CAN was not successful with CZ. The same the keeps on happening. The very last Delta agent who I spoke to pulled it through not with CZ, but with China Airlines (CI). She even got us 4 seat in J ^ None of the other agents was able to get or even suggested CI. This last agent is very experienced, very kind and extremely willing to help.
A side note, my initial attempts to get NRT to CAN, KIX to CAN, CAN to NRT, or CAN to KIX all have fail when EF showed inventory. Finally I did get the CAN to KIX leg. I'm not sure if the EF inventory decreased while the Delta agents sent the request because I didn't notice this behavior until I started looking at the TPE to CAN leg.
So, in order to get seats on CZ, I have to tell DL agent to do a "long sell"? Few months ago I tried to check if DL can see any availability on LAX-CAN route (EF showed at least 4 seats), and DL agent told me that nothing is available. I am not sure if she really checked it by doing 'long sell'.
