First Class to Japan and Thailand and back - LH F, TG F, on the 747-8i, A380, 787

A few months back, I had some spare vacation time to use, and a pile of miles, so I decided to take a quick trip. Unlike past trips, my wife was working so I was traveling solo this time.

Without her logic as part of the planning process, I could pick out some av-geeky routings and visit places that aren't as interesting to her.

My intent was to get on some new airplanes that I hadn't experienced yet. I planned around the 787 in Japan, and also had my first flight on a A380. A last minute change also allowed a flight on the 747-8i.

Here is the routing:

I flew Lufthansa First IAD-FRA on the 747-8i, then FRA-NRT on an A380. From there, I visited Hiroshima via a 787 flight from Haneda. I then flew Thai to Bangkok on the Jet Airways 77W, spent some time in Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle area, before heading back home via Frankfurt again on the Thai 77W, then a Lufthansa 744 to Chicago. I also had some excellent lounge visits, with 2 stops at the Lufthansa First Class Terminal, and a great time with the Thai Airways Royal First Class ground experience in Bangkok. I also had my first stay at the Park Hyatt Tokyo, and amazing place.

All legs were in First Class except for domestic flights in Thailand and the 787 flights which were in economy.
