Fine with me, as long as the dedicated GE kiosks continue to remain available exclusively to members. Obviously, we have known from the start that the kiosks are capable of much more than they are currently being used for (all those nifty colored buttons!).
But I am wondering how things will change if suddenly every traveler is walking around with a kiosk receipt. How will the officers at the exit checkpoints know to let the GE cleared pax go, while still interviewing non-trusted traveler pax?
Don't know if this will be similar, but Canada has kiosks in YVR, I think its for Canadian citizens only (at least, right now). I've only used it once (because I usually use Nexus). There is separate line with several kiosks available.
You still have to fill out the paper form before arriving. But IIRC, you scan the passports, then insert the completed customs form, which the machine keeps. It confirms your info and spits out a receipt. You then take the receipt to the single officer at the end of the line (at least, there was only one when I arrived). Asked a few questions and then on the way. There were several people using the kiosks, but only a line of like 2 people to see the officer. Pretty simple and easy.
Though still not as good as Nexus or GE.
