Absolutely clear that in case of IROPS, Aeroplan tickets stand at the very bottom of the totem pole.

Last week, I was on a YYC-FRA flight that was canceled, confirmed upgrade. So was my wife on an aeroplan J ticket. They quickly rebooked me but in Y, waitlisted for an upgrade however with J0 on the next day. But left her hanging. Not rebooked at all.

Until I called the SE line. Rebooked both in J through YUL following day. My mistake was not to have asked the two itineraries to be cross-referenced.
