He is right on this point. The way airlines handle deicing is ridiculously inefficient.
I was on 1720 ORD-PHX last night and it took us an hour and 42 minutes to get deiced. The interesting part of this is that the captain told us that ORD is airport based de-icing not airline, so United had no control. The incredible part is once they finally did start to deice us it took them almost 1/2 hour. It was pathetic.
