I've booked a cruise, Singapore to Shanghai. The end of the itinerary is as follows:
Singapore and Vietnam to start the cruise, and then...
March 28th arrive in Hong Kong at 7:00 am
March 29th arrive in Xiamen China at 12:00 pm
March 31st arrive in Shanghai at 6:00 am
Depart from Shanghai(PVG) at 6pm on a flight to Seoul.

Can I do this as a transit without visa?
Hong Kong is its own separate visa area. Whether you consider the Xiamen and Shanghai stops as two separate or one united they are under 72 hours in country before leaving. My concern is does the rule apply to cruise ships as well as just flights? And particularly does it apply to arrival in Shanghai via cruise and departure via plane?
Am hoping I can avoid the hassle/cost of obtaining the visa, but don't want to end up in a problem spot if I don't do it. Any help is appreciated.
TWOV applies to flights only. you will need a visa if arriving by ship.
