Even if the OP can't find SAAver seats on the AS SJC-OGG (or OAK-OGG) nonstop, and has to fly AA SJC-LAX-OGG, it would still be cheaper to use Avios: 17,000 Avios one way in Coach versus 22,500 AA miles.
