A330-300, Bassinet or Two seats?

Hi, I need some suggestion.
A family of three (dad, mom, infant- 11months, yes, lap child) is traveling transatlantic to Europe this summer.
We'll most likely to fly on A330-300 and it's economy class has 2-4-2 seating arrangement.

Currently, we are not sure whehter we could get the Bassinet on our flight.
My understanding is that Bassinet is provided at somewhere in the "4 seats section."
Is that correct?

If we are not able to get Bassinet, our plan is to pick our setas in the "2 seats" section,
so we can minimize the discomfort to people seating next/near to us that much.

If we are guarnteed of the Bassinet, we'll go just about anywhere.
But if not, we'd like to seat just three of us overlseves in the 2-seat section.

How do you suggest picking our seats in such situation?
Thank you!
