Thanks to everyone for your help. I was considering going to Borneo instead and was about ready to book the tickets, but decided to try searching one last time for awards from HKG-DPS. Was able to net two award tickets May 19th-29th. That is one week earlier than we were planning, but can't be picky. I think Bali will be more relaxing. Living in China (in Guangzhou near HK) it appears that Avios are only useful on short, direct flights nearby. The taxes/fees and miles for trips back to the States are just outrageous.
