Booked a midsize SUV (Ford Escape) for a week from HZ for a one-way, LAS to LAX for mid-April for $221/week using AAA + PC code, good for add'l $20 off @ $306 w. taxes/fees - not bad at all. Gas prices are 60 cents/gal. cheaper in Sin City. Renting the same SUV class for same city dropoff would cost $40 more, LOL. Worked out perfect on the airfares, non-stops with decent OW fares.

Going the other direction, LAX-LAS dropoff on identical dates would run $811 net after taxes/fees ... ouch !! Must be lots of cars being stranded in Vegas days after Spring break, so getting "rewarded" for helping to move the cars back out of desert, and I will be fine w. the next higher suv category if offered free.
